Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions I'm asked most frequently.

Still have questions?

Please feel free to ask me anything and I will answer you honestly and promptly!

  • Let's get this out of the way right away. Your cost depends on a couple of factors, including distance and length. However my fee is VERY reasonable and I do not take any money up front. I found the median for weddings in your area and my fee is right in the middle.

My fee includes all consultation done via the phone or Internet, the creation of a personalized wedding ceremony, and my favorite part – officiating your wedding. It includes travel! What is not included is rehearsals.

  • With over a decade of experience, I am fully credentialed to perform legal weddings in any state. In addition to a valid Pastoral license, I have gone through extensive training through both church and secular organizations.

  • Nope! But there's a good reason! Your wedding will be completely personalized to who you are as a couple. While I will offer you a template for a standard wedding service, we will use it as a jumping off spot. Your wedding service will be thoroughly unique and personal to you. I'll walk you through every step of the process and help you every step of the way.

  • I offer both traditional and non-traditional, religious and nonreligious and completely personalized ceremonies. When we do your free consultation, we will discuss your vision for the wedding. If I am not the right officiant for you, I might recommend someone who would fit better!

  • Generally, the answer is no. I typically do not attend rehearsals unless that is something very important to you. Let me explain why! Since I do not make an entrance or an exit, there is nothing really for me to rehearse. Attendance at a rehearsal is time and travel away from my family and means an extra expense to you. I prefer to keep costs down so that you can save your money for a home, a honeymoon, and happiness.

  • Absolutely! This is YOUR wedding, and it will be done YOUR way. That's the fun part for me – seeing the vision of my brides come to reality. There is no right way or wrong way to do a wedding – there is just your way!

  • Of course! This is your wedding! We will do it however you want!

  • I work with Cameron Faith Baron, one of Chicagoland's top young soloists. I will be glad to introduce you!

  • I will coordinate what I wear with your vision for your wedding. I usually wear a business suit. If you would like me in a clerical shirt and collar, that is no problem either. If you have a specific color shirt/tie/pocket square, you would prefer me to wear that is not a problem.

  • During our "getting to know you" phone consultation, I will offer you a template for the normal flow of the wedding. I'll walk you through it and then you can personalize it to your taste, so that it reflects your vision and who you are as a couple.

  • I can introduce you to some great professionals. I also know the world's greatest cupcake designer/baker!

  • An important question to ask of any wedding officiant is this: "What happens if you're not available on the day of my wedding? If you get sick or something comes up?" While that has never happened to me, I have had to be an emergency "fill in" for a couple whose officiant canceled two hours before the wedding. In the unlikely event that something came up, I would arrange with one of my colleagues to conduct your ceremony.
